Review: Lupine: Bah Humbug!

Lupine: Bah Humbug! Lupine: Bah Humbug! by Hanleigh Bradley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Lupine: Bah Humbug, the fourth book in the Hanleigh Bradley's Lupine series (Silver Springs Collection) sees Enzo Rossi's hatred for Christmas. Enzo doesn't share the same holiday spirit as Lupine and her other mates. His memories of Christmas are him waking up early to open presents, but because of the family business, his parents were barely around to celebrate with him.

Enzo helps Lupine and the kids at the orphanage with setting up the holiday festivities, even though he would rather be doing anything else than that. Upon dropping Castalia at her magic lessons, he comes across a house in the words. He gets the idea to turn it into a hotel.

Everything seems to be great until he meets Arach a dragon shifter who wants to be left alone. But the problem is Arach lives in the house. So, Enzo tries to build the hotel around Arach who is not happy about having his space invaded by Enzo and everyone else.

Things get out of hand at the Christmas tree ceremony in town and just as the ceremony starts, Arach in dragon form destroys the Christmas tree. It is up to Enzo to save Christmas by enlisting Evanora's help to rebuild the tree just in time.

I thought this was a sweet story because it showed a different side to Enzo. He began as a rival for Lupine's affections and he wasn't well-received by the other mates when Lupine picked him as her fifth and final mate. However, he has taken on tasks like helping Lupine with the children in the orphanage, taking them to school/lessons. In addition, he seems to be appreciative of the fact that he has a family in Lupine, the kids. (And maybe the other four Cortesse mates, but I don't think he would consider them family ever.)
